The 55-inch LA6900 LCD TV Receives Environmental Product Declaration and Sustainable Product Certification from Underwriters Laboratories
Karachi, January 9, 2013 – LG Electronics (LG) announced that its CINEMA 3D Smart TV's (55LA6900) Environment Product Declaration (EPD) has been certified by UL (Underwriters Laboratories) and has received a Sustainable Product Certification (SPC). An internationally respected technology testing company, UL certifies manufacturer-produced EPDs and products which meet strict environmental performance and sustainability criteria.
"LG is proud to have its ongoing efforts to develop and manufacture sustainable products recognized by UL," said Havis Kwon, President and CEO of the LG Electronics Home Entertainment Company. "The LA6900 embodies our desire and commitment to create products that protect not only the health of the environment, but the health of the consumer as well. We will continue to deliver market leading products capable of meeting, and in many cases exceeding industry standards."
Helping consumers to make truly informed purchases, an EPD is a manufacturer-produced report that communicates a product's impact on the environment throughout its entire lifecycle. The comprehensive assessment encompasses raw material sourcing and transportation, manufacturing processes, and shipping methods and materials. An EPD also reports the recyclability of a product and its components. Recognized around the world, UL certification indicates that an EPD contains correct and relevant information.
LG's 55-inch and 47-inch LA6900 CINEMA 3D Smart TVs have been awarded SPC Gold certification by UL. Both energy efficient products are manufactured using safer, less toxic materials and production processes. Several of the components employed by LG have been specifically designed and fabricated to be more recyclable at the end of their operational lifespan. An SPC requires a product to meet the strict environmental performance standards as measured by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Electronics Product Environmental Assessment Tool (EPEAT). These standards cover a range of categories, including energy efficiency, the removal of toxicity, reusability, packaging and the manufacturer's efforts to improve sustainability.
UL electronics product safety certification and product quality validations are recognized and respected around the globe.
