PITB and Food & Agriculture Organization (FAO) of United Nations Organization (UNO) have signed an agreement to develop Pakistan Animal Identification and Traceability System (PAITS). The agreement was signed by PITB Director IT-Operations Khurram Mushtaq and FAO Pakistan Country Representative Florence Rolle on behalf of their respective organizations.
The solution mainly involves animal health information and performance recording data. To be rolled out as a pilot project, it will initially cover Cows and Buffaloes and will be expanded later to identification and traceability of other species.

The ceremony was also attended by Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) Management Specialist FAO Dr. Muhammad Afzal, Animal Husbandry Commissioner Ministry of National Food Security and Research (MinNFS&R) Dr. Muhammad Akram and National Expert on Animal ID FAO Dr. Zahida Fatima.
