On this World Music Day, Spotify reveals some easy listening trends observed via user generated playlists
Karachi, June 21, 2023: While the world celebrates the day that is set aside for honoring music, Spotify reveals that love, romance, and heart are some of the themes that listeners are enjoying the most on Spotify. Pulling away gently at the chords of the soul and setting a soft aura is what the younger generation continues to gravitate towards.

Spotify classifies these categories of tracks as mellow music and the recently released insights from the streaming service show some interesting consumption trends of “love songs”, “romantic music”, “lo-fi”, and “chill vibe” music.
The data reveals that Kaifi Khalil’s Kahani Suno 2.0, the national mellow anthem, stands as the most streamed track in this category. And although Atif Aslam reigns supreme as the most streamed artist on Mellow playlists, other notable additions to the top five artists include Rahat Fateh Ali Khan, Talha Anjum, Asim Azhar and Rovalio completing the list.
Wondering what the other leading tracks are? In second and third place are “Iraaday” and “Bikhra” by Abdul Hannan and Rovalio, followed by “Jo Tu Na Mila” by Asim Azhar, and finally “Siyah” by Abdul Hannan and Baig. Among the most popular playlists of mellow tracks, “Chill Hits” has the highest number of streams and is listeners’ favorite, while Desi Lo-fi, Strictly Chill and Desi Focus are the playlists that also feature the top mellow tracks.
Ever since Spotify landed in Pakistan, it has continued to reveal some interesting data caches, insights, and predictions to stir up the music craze in the country. This latest information is no different giving listeners an insider track into learning about not just the local landscape but also the global ecosystem powered by melodious voices.

That being said, let’s continue with some more intriguing information that the streaming service just dropped. Gen-Z is the highest contributor of mellow music streaming with 46.8% streams coming from this age group. Those between 25 and 29 are the second biggest audience with a 16.4% share followed by 14.4% who are under 17.
And that’s not all! Thanks to Spotify, we also know which times are the most preferable for listeners to enjoy mellow music. Well, turns out the highest volume of streaming happens between 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM. However, the largest difference in plays of mellow music in comparison to other tracks happens at 9:00 PM during the night. As the clock strikes 6:00 PM, streaming begins to grow, staying strong up until 11:00 PM at night.
