Afaq Khan Secures Gold as Pakistan's Athletes Continue to Impress

Pakistan's special athletes have delivered an outstanding performance at the 12th Special Olympics World Winter Games, with Afaq Khan claiming the nation's third gold medal on Friday. Afaq triumphed in the 100-meter snowshoeing race, beating UAE's Ahmed Al-Jilani, who secured silver, and Mongolia's Amarbold Munkhdul, who took bronze.

The men's 4x100-meter snowshoeing relay team, featuring Moazzam Iqbal, Abdul Saboor, Muhammad Afaq, and Ali Raza, also earned a silver medal for Pakistan. Canada clinched gold, while China settled for bronze. Meanwhile, the women's 4x100-meter snowshoeing relay team comprising Iqra Akram, Tabassum Nasir, Shah Guloon, and Manahil added another silver to Pakistan's medal tally, with Canada taking first place and Chinese Taipei finishing third.

Pakistan's athletes have now amassed a total of eight medals at the Games—three gold, three silver, and two bronze—in the disciplines of cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. The momentum continues, as Moazzam, Saboor Ahmed, and Raza gear up for the men's 400-meter snowshoeing race on Monday, while Iqra and Manahil prepare to compete in the women's event.
