Karachi Boat Club Female Rowers Win Silver at Grand Moscow Regatta

Karachi Boat Club (KBC) female rowers achieved a significant milestone by securing the silver medal in the Grand Moscow Regatta on June 1, finishing second behind a Russian club. This was the first time KBC competed in this prestigious event. The six-member team, which left for the event on May 27, faced competitors from seven countries, including Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Azerbaijan in the women quad event, as well as Cuba, Russia, Belarus, and Serbia.

The team returned to Pakistan on June 5 after participating in various categories, including seniors, Under 23, Under 19, students, club teams, and para rowing. The Pakistani girls who won the silver medal were Syeda Manahil Hussain, Aaleen Hussain, Mariam Yousuf Ali, and Nehan Asad. In the men's events, Muhammad Danish Iftikhar and Imran Khan represented Pakistan. The representation at the Grand Moscow Regatta was made possible through the support of the Russian Friendship House and the Russian Consulate in collaboration with the Karachi Boat Club.

The Karachi Boat Club, established in 1881, has a rich history of developing student rowers from various educational institutions and has sent many athletes to compete in international events. With a fleet of 33 boats, over 500 active rowing members, and more than 25 registered schools, the club continues to play a pivotal role in promoting rowing in Pakistan. The club has also hosted international teams for events in Karachi on multiple occasions.
