Vacant Roles Hindering Progress of Nascent Institution, Says Activist
Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz's Chitral information secretary and human rights activist, Niaz A. Niazi Advocate, has urged the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government to appoint a vice-chancellor for the University of Chitral, a position that has remained vacant for over 18 months. He emphasized that this prolonged vacancy, along with unfilled key roles such as registrar, controller of examinations, treasurer, and senior academic positions, is hampering the university's growth.
Criticizing the dual charge given to the vice-chancellor of Shaheed Benazir Bhutto University, Mr. Niazi highlighted the impracticality of managing two institutions simultaneously. He called for an end to the alleged politicization of universities and stressed the importance of treating them as centers of learning rather than political entities.
