Muhammad Sohail Afridi Unveils Development Vision for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

Muhammad Sohail Afridi has outlined a comprehensive development roadmap for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, directing officials to finalize PC-1 documents for all projects under the 2026–27 Annual Development Program (ADP) by June 1. Speaking during a video-link meeting of the Planning and Development Department, the chief minister emphasized accelerating overall provincial development while prioritizing backward districts and sectors that directly benefit the public, including education, healthcare, employment, and basic services.

During the meeting, officials reviewed the progress of the current 2025–26 fiscal year, noting that about 67 percent of the released funds have already been utilized. Around 218 high-priority projects are expected to be completed in the coming year. The provincial government has also allocated Rs29.6 billion for the development of merged tribal districts, although federal funds for the rapid development program in these areas are still awaited.

For the next fiscal cycle, the government plans to allocate 80 percent of development funds to ongoing projects and 20 percent to new initiatives. Key projects include the Rs1,000 billion "Roshan Qabail" package for merged districts, along with plans for a Health City, Tribal Medical College, Tribal University, and the Ehsaas Jungle Program. The development agenda also includes virtual classrooms, an artificial intelligence curriculum, bag-free schools, expansion of the BRT system, the Khyber Safari Train, Safe Cities infrastructure, and special initiatives for Upper Chitral, vulnerable communities, and persons with disabilities.
